Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

After breakfast at your lodging in Kampala or Entebbe, take our 4×4 Land Cruiser to Murchison Falls National Park, stopping along the way to explore the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola (lunch here) and the top of the falls, where the majestic River Nile accentuates its splendour.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking at Kaniyo Pabidi Forest – Afternoon Boat Cruise to the Falls

After breakfast at your lodge, head to the headquarters of Kanio Pabidi Park for a briefing on monitoring chimps and other monkeys. Take a three-hour launch trip upstream of the falls in the afternoon.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Get up early in the morning, eat breakfast, and check out to travel to Kibale Forest National Park, stop for lunch along the way, and get to Kibale by late afternoon. While you wait for supper, unwind in your lodge.

Accommodation: Primate Lodge Kibale, Ndali Lodge, Kyaninga Lodge.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale – Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, head to the Kanyanchu tourist centre to register and receive a training from the official guide about trekking chimpanzees. Only then may you begin tracking them in the bush. Set off on the chimpanzee hike at 8:00 am. You will interact with chimpanzees for an hour, embrace their human-like traits, and shoot pictures. Colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, grey galagoes, vervet monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, and over 350 different bird species can all be found in the forest. After resting at the lodge, proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kyambura Gorge – Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel.

Before heading to Kyambura Gorge for chimpanzee trekking, have an early breakfast. Spend an hour with chimpanzees and take in their company while taking a cool, peaceful nature walk in this underground forest. Take a launch boat on the Kazinga Channel after lunch to witness a variety of aquatic birds, buffaloes, hippos, and elephants.

Accommodation: Mweya Safari Lodge, Elephant Plains.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

After breakfast, travel to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, either by way of Ishasha, the lion’s habitat, or by way of the more farmed areas.

Accommodation: Mahogany Springs Lodge, Buhoma Lodge.

Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Grab a cup of coffee, pack a lunch, and proceed to the park’s headquarters for registration and a pre-tour of the gorillas. The gorilla trekking expedition begins at 8:00 am and lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to a full day, depending on the gorillas’ location that day. If time permits, you will attend a cultural performance with the Batwa Pygmies in the evening and discover more about their traditional forest lifestyle.

Day 8: Return to Kampala – Departure.

Start your journey back to Kampala with an early breakfast, go on a picnic drive, stop for lunch along the way, have a photo stop at the equator, arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon, and then drop off at Entebbe Airport for your planned departure flight or at your Kampala/Entebbe hotel.
