Rushaga and Nkuringo sectors make up the park’s southern side, while Buhoma and Ruhija sectors make up its northern side. Following the briefing, you will begin your trek for the day. Depending on where the gorillas were last seen the day before, the search may take anywhere from two to five hours. After they have been spotted, you will have an hour to record films and take pictures. You will also get the opportunity to ask the guides and rangers any questions you may have about these enormous apes.

Along the route to the gorillas, one can observe a variety of fauna and bird species in addition to the great apes, including butterflies, primates, mammals, frogs, and more. You will return to your lodge and recover for the remainder of the day after visiting the gorillas. Five to nine hours may be needed for the entire day’s activities. It is strongly advised to hire porters and pack a lunch. If you have the time, you will also visit the Ride 4 A Woman project in Buhoma, where you will get the opportunity to talk to local women and discover their many handicrafts, such as knitting and basket weaving, created using local resources.
