Detailed Itinerary.
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali.
When you arrive in Kigali, you will be received by a Judith Safaris tour guide who will brief you on the 10 day Rwanda tour and transfer you to a hotel already booked for you where you will check in, have dinner and stay overnight.
Accommodation: Kigali Marriott Hotel, Hotel Chez Lando.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
After breakfast, visit the Gisozi Genocide Memorial. Later, go to Nyungwe Forest with a stopover in Butare to visit the National Museum and have lunch at the Ibis Restaurant. While on the way to Nyungwe, stop by the Murambi Genocide site. Later proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park and arrive at the lodge in time for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe – Colobus monkey Trekking.
Take an early breakfast and head to Nyungwe for chimp trekking, which will provide you with a wonderful wild life experience. Return after breakfast, relax while we wait for lunch, and then search for big groups of black and white colobus monkeys in the jungle.

Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, go to Kinigi, near Volcanoes National Park, the home of gorillas. You will stop for lunch in Gisenyi on the banks of Lake Kivu before heading to Volcanoes National Park, where you will arrive in time for supper and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park.
You will leave early in the morning for gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park. Gorilla trekking through the light mountain forest of the Virunga is an unforgettable experience. Some gorilla families are difficult to locate, and tracking might take all day, especially when wet and muddy. In the afternoon, visit the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village.

Day 6: Hike to Diana Fossey’s Grave Yard
An early breakfast is followed by a walk to the Dian Fossey burial at Karisoke Research Centre. Dian spent approximately 20 years here studying mountain gorillas. The journey to the site is rather stunning, passing through dense bamboo forest and afro-montane ecosystems, with crisscrossed routes and traces of forest buffalo and elephant! Expect to encounter a variety of species as we make our journey up and down to the graves, which are tucked between the majestic volcanic peaks of Karisimbi and Visoke.

Day 7: Transfer to Akagera National Park
After an early morning breakfast at the lodge in Volcanoes National park, you will depart for Akagera National Park with lunch in Kigali. Proceed to Akagera National Park and arrive at the lodge in time for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Full Day Game Drive in Akagera National Park.
Wake up early for a cup of coffee and embark on a morning game drive in search for elephants, zebras, black rhino, giraffes, lion, leopard, etc. Return to the lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge. Later have dinner and stay the night.

Day 9: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise on Lake Ihema.
After breakfast, go for a morning game drive for a chance to spot early risers and some of the animal species you may have missed the previous day. Head back to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go on a boat cruise on Lake Ihema where you will get a chance to spot a number of animal species that like to lurk around the shores as well as numerous bird species. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Return to Kigali – Departure.
Leave for Kigali, time permitting, have a city tour, visit local markets, and genocide memorial sites, then transfer to the airport which marks the end of you safari.
